I wanted to add some context to my brief so here are some ideas I had for making people aware of my design. I believe that by placing a quote outside a football ground it would generate interest from people and would want to see more. By simply placing the quote outside people will get the idea that it is tweet but it still has a reference to my design.

I have added some text to the designs and made some of the point sizes on the tweets bigger in order to have some consistency. I have also reduced the gap between quote and context in some designs in order to have less negative space.

Here is the first part on my final designs, these are spreads that I have created in answer to my brief. I have made a few changes form the final critique and have now sent these designs off to be printed.

Here are the front and back covers for my my layout design. The title ‘#justsaying’ is a commonly used hash tag on twitter when the user has said a bit controversial and they try to justify it by adding this. I thought it would be appropriate to have this as my title to go with the tweets I have chosen. The back cover is just some copyright information for the viewer.

Here are some earlier ideas for my layout design, using the ‘flight card’ style of illustration. When I compare this to later development in the project I think the imagery i have now is much more affective and works with the typography much better. The illustrations style now makes the players much more recognisable even for people that don’t know about football. In terms of the type I had to develop the typographic style. I got rid of the italic as it i felt the regular type is stronger. I have also added the twitter bird and the footballers twitter handle in order to make the viewer more aware that the quote is in fact a tweet.

Paper Stock Considerations

For my final print I need to think how best to present my outcomes, choosing the right paper stock in order to make the most of the design. I have stated that I want my layout to be a magazine style and typically they are printed on to a glossy finish. The finish will typically be on a ‘Coated Fine Paper’ or ‘Woodfree Coated Paper’ (WFC) are mainly produced for offset printing. Within this genre of paper there is Art papers are one of the highest quality printing papers and are used for illustrated books, calendars and brochures. The grammage varies from 100 to 230 g/m2. These papergrades are triple coated with 20 - > 40 g/m2/side and have matte or glossy finish. Higher qualities often contain cottonHaving spoken to the printer I decided to go with a glossy finish at 200 gsm as I think this will best suited to my design.

These are my ideas developed for the final critique, I have tried to bring out the illustration from the background. I have got the background as white as possible and the lines as dark as possible to give it more impact. I think that they are successful and work well with the typography. Overall I feel that these are the strongest images I have created throughout the development stage and I have achieved what I set out in my ‘Learning Agreement’.

These are my ideas developed from the previous post. The illustrations have been edited so there is more consistency between them. I have also added the footballers twitter handle to give the viewer more context behind the fact that it is a tweet quoted. I need to bring out the marks of the drawing and get rid of the shade in the background. This will ensure that the design makes most of the illustrations.

These are some layout design that include the hand drawn illustrations that I created, I have been developing this style in response to some advice I received in a tutorial. I feel that now I have looked into creating these ideas that they are much more affective than the designs I had from Illustrator.
